The 64DD, however, was quickly canned, and Mother 3 was shifted to the normal Nintendo 64 lineup. Further complications arose from the game's use of the 64DD, a complicated N64 add-on which would have provided a real-time clock and disk storage, opening up an entire world of features never before seen on a console game. However, while the storyline was coming along nicely, the development team was having issues with the game's translation to 3D graphics. This unusual blend of disparate elements is something players have come to expect from the Mother series.
The playable demo at Spaceworld 1999 featured a wide variety of scenes and characters, including desert canyons, battles with masked pigs, underground dungeons, a rock and roll concert, a runaway mine-cart chase, and a scene where a giant green dragon runs alongside a futuristic bullet train. Flint also has a dog, Boney, who accompanies him. The main character is a cowboy named Flint who has two twin sons, named "Ryuka" and "Kraus" (later revealed to be "Lucas" and "Claus").
The characters involve a small, seemingly old-west family living in a small, very rural setting. Mother 3's story, however, appears at first glance to be completely unrelated. The screen fades to black and you're presented with the words "The End.?" The second was the final scene of the game, in which you are reminded that one of the villains escaped. Mother tells the story of Ninten, a 12-year-old boy who journeys around the world using his psychic powers to collect eight melodies in order to save the planet from an evil race of mind-controlling aliens. Mother 2 tells the story of Ness, a young boy who journeys around the world also using psychic powers to collect eight melodies in order to save the future from an alien of pure evil, intending to sentence all of reality to the horror of eternal darkness.EarthBound / Mother 2 had two major events which pointed to the possibility of a sequel: first off was a sign in front of a building that said " Planning Meeting for EarthBound 2". As it features two different games, its developer credits vary, but between both Mother and Mother 2, Shigesato Itoi acted as the designer and director, and music was composed by Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka. The game was meant to promote the upcoming Mother 3 (also for the Game Boy Advance as the rebirth of the franchise, and it has currently been released only in Japan).
It is a compilation of the first two installments of the Mother series, MOTHER and MOTHER 2: GIYGAS STRIKES BACK! (known outside Japan as EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound, respectively). Mother 1 + 2 (MOTHER 1 + 2 Mazā Wan-Tsū) is a console role-playing game developed by Ape Inc., Nintendo Tokyo R&D Products and HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance on June 20, 2003.
